One more day for free Kaladi and munchies, just for parking in Fine Arts lot

Nothing like a warm latte on the way to class these rainy days to feel a little loved.

Lining up for those steaming lattes in Fine Arts lot.
That was the goal of a three-day effort to invite students to consider the Fine Arts lot as an alternative to over-jammed lots nearer the center and west sides of campus. This lot is served by the Seawolf Shuttle (which has added an extra bus during peak times to improve frequency.)

The rainy start of school delayed the Elmore Roundabout opening and lots of other road construction around Anchorage, challenging shuttle drivers to keep to their schedules. When the roundabout opens, soon (please, pray for sunshine), we should get a better feel for how the drivers can stay on schedule.

IN THE MEANTIME, you have one more chance to grab that warm latte. Monday, September 9 between 9:30 and 11 a.m., park here, grab a latte and muffin, and a ticket for a parking pass drawing. If you already have a pass you can apply the winning certificate to a future semester.

This TLC treat came from the UAA Alumni Association, and Leaverette Hoover, one of our distinguished alums, staffed the table, mingled with students and sent us this photo and report.

Breakfast!
The Fine Arts Parking lot experience was a great opportunity for me to
meet with students and hear some of their concerns.  Overwhelmingly, everyone was excited about the changes at UAA and were happy about the free shuttle.  Most were glad to see the support of the alumni association and some didn't realize there was an association at the university.

I did receive two complaints about no marked cross walk at the Fine Arts building from the parking lot and a few complained about
the speed of the drivers on that section of road.

One person mentioned the parking cost was excessive and I was able to explain the cost and up keep of the lots and the importance of the fees.  Once explained, it made
sense to her.

All in all, everyone was glad to see the UAAAA present and it made them feel good that we cared about their needs.  Thanks for giving me the opportunity to attend.

Respectfully,

Leverette, thank YOU!

And students, don't forget Monday's free Kaladi and muffins, in the Fine Arts parking lot.
