TNL Photo Editor Tim Brown has some BTC advice

He'll be the guy with the camera.
Welcome back to College, a dilute version of real life that is twice as expensive with half the calories. My name is Tim, I am a 23-year-old playboy manbaby and Photo Editor at the Northern Light Newspaper. Accept me as the safari guide to your first few weeks of the fall semester and absorb the bitter spice of my early 20s, ready-to-be-done-with-college, perspective.

If you are just starting school,  you are no doubt wracked with the pressure and indecision associated with picking what you want to do ‘for the rest of your life.’ While the decisions you make today are important, I can say from experience that keeping a cool head at all times will do you no wrong.

If you are one of those students who has already found your passion, you are well on your way to carving out your niche in the world. Work to find your passion. For the rest of us late bloomers, all we can do is be involved, be helpful to others, and try as many new things as come our way.

Above all else you should be attending college to

  1. Master a body of knowledge
  2. Gain skills that will make you employable. Keep in mind that the first doesn’t automatically translate to the second.
  3. Keep an eye out for internships, money-making opportunities and student jobs that give you concrete technical skills and experience.
Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. Oh yeah, and avoid plagiarism.

Signing off,

Tim B
